Advent Giving Tree
Every year we put trees in the back of the church with tags that you can take that specify a gift for a needy child or adult. You take the tag and then return the wrapped gift in the following weeks. The details will be in the bulletin in late November or early December. For 2018 the schedule is as follows:
Camp St. Vincent Summer Camp Supply Drive
Every June we collect supplies for homeless children to go to Summer camp. They go to camps to participate in activities that address the impact of homelessness on academic, social and emotional development. Camp activities include arts and crafts, nature studies, music instruction and swimming lessons. Counselling is available when needed. We request supplies such as:
Collection boxes are in the Narthex (entryway in church) in June. Keep an eye out in the bulletin for the specific dates.
Families Helping Families at Thanksgiving
Every November we bring in boxes that you can fill with food. Please fill the box with the items in this link, but you can feel free to add other foods as well. Then please make a check out to OLPH-SVDP for $25 to cover the cost of turkey and rolls. Put "Thanksgiving" in the memo line, put it in an envelope and tape it to the outside of the box. The boxes are returned 2 weeks before Thanksgiving so that they can be distributed. For 2018 the schedule is as follows:
We have a food pantry that is used for anyone who needs help with food. It is used by people in need who call the Parish office. We serve those outside our Parish, but of course our own Parishioners can also contact the office if they are having a difficult time affording food.
Poor Box (Client Services)
We partner with Howard County's Community Action Council to serve clients in need of rental and utility assistance. Please contact CAC at (410) 313-6440.
Francican Center Clothing Drive
Clothing collections for needy and disabled persons at the Franciscan Center in Baltimore are held in the spring and fall. All types of clothing and small household items are requested. The clothing drives are announced in the Parish Bulletin.
Our Daily Bread Casseroles
OLPH is committed to providing food for Our Daily Bread soup kitchen on the first Monday of each month. Parish members pick up an aluminum pan on the last Sunday of the month. They bake casseroles and desserts, drop them off in the Parish kitchen freezer. OLPH St. Vincent de Paul with the help of parishioners deliver them downtown on the Sunday prior to the first Monday of the month. Click on this link for the casserole recipe.
How can I donate money?
A portion of the money collected in the poor box goes to OLPH St. Vincent de Paul.
