***All Peer Ministers must continue their Religious Education. If you are not in a Catholic School, you must register and learn more about your faith in order to share it with others! ***

ABLAZE
“I have come to set the earth on fire, and how I wish it were already blazing!”
Luke 12:49
ABLAZE is our response to Jesus’ call to be set on fire. Every Tuesday night (when Religious Education is not in session) OLPHers (and your friends!) are invited to meet in the Parish Office Basement to hang out, snack on Berger Cookies, pray, support each other, worship, and discuss the readings for the upcoming Sunday Mass. ABLAZE is always fun, always laid back, and always open to the movements of the Holy Spirit! If you’re feeling burnt out from life, come and allow Jesus to fan the fire in your heart. It’s a great way to stay on track with God in the middle of your busy week! All who have been confirmed are welcome to attend this “90 Minute Retreat” from 6:30 – 8:00 PM.
You've been waiting.....ABLAZE will be back at the beginning of January...check back for updates in the New Year!!

Peer Ministry
To be a Peer Minister is to… “Live in a manner worthy of the call you have received.”
Ephesians 4:1
With over 60 High School Peers who are actively ministering to our parish, Peer Ministry is a very important part of OLPH. It is an opportunity to grow in love, leadership, and maturity, while at the same time, have fun, make long-lasting friendships, learn what your gifts are, and learn how to BE a GIFT to the parish community! A Peer Minister spends time not only ministering to each other in the High School Youth Group, but also radiates Christ’s love to those younger than them, particularly those who are in middle-school.
Peer Ministry IS:
- A Church Leadership program that allows high school students to use their talents and help their peers grow in faith, specifically through the Confirmation and IMPACT programs
- An opportunity to develop skills like sharing your faith, leading discussions, using the Bible, and welcoming others
- Training that will help you grow in your faith and live it out at church, in school, at home, and everywhere you go!
- For any High School student who has already been Confirmed in their faith
- Fun, exciting, and entertaining.
- Hard work that demands time, commitment, and sacrifice
- Above all, an opportunity to serve Christ and
His Church by serving others.
Peer Ministry is NOT:
- Required for any High School student
- Necessary for participation in High School Youth Group events
- The same as Youth Ministry events (most Youth Ministry events are open to friends, neighbors, etc.)
“Throughout my 3 years of Peer Ministry, I have loved every minute of it. At the beginning, I was confused about my motives, and not the most dedicated, but I now often put Peer Ministry first and I am dead sure of my motives. First, it helps to develop my faith, and second, I can have a hand in shaping others…God, for me, is a very interesting character. I believe he is there constantly, and I even think he has a sense of humor. I know God as a support base: he humbles me when I need it and brings me up when I need it…every peer has a part to play, and we can never afford to lose whatever impact they may make on a middle-schooler, peer, or even adult.” -Ryan Dreibelbis
“When I was younger, a peer minister was always there for me and helped me learn. I would really like to be there for other students...God always helps me through the bad times and the good times too. He plays an extremely important role in my life. God is calling me to spread the word of God and to become a Peer Minister at OLPH.” - Auste Rimkus
“As a Catholic teenager, I feel that I need the support offered me by peer ministry and the youth group….Working alongside other teens with similar views and goals to show preteens that it really is cool to be Catholic is really strengthening in today’s sometimes discouraging culture…I hope to improve my leadership skills by interacting with the other peer ministers as well as the middle-schoolers…I like to imagine God as a hand always behind me, pushing me in the right direction when my life starts to turn away, lifting me up when I’m down, and patting me on the back when I make the right choices!” –Corinne Purcell
“I want to practice my faith more by attending church events and sharing my trust in God to the kids at Impact. In peer ministry, I want to learn how to be a leader…I am committed to be a part of it.” –Jessica Donnelly
